지난 연말,
USGA는 2005년판 개정 골프룰에 이어,
다음과 같은 '침실 골프룰'도 아울러 발표하였습니다.
아래 15개 조항의 내용을 여러 번 읽고 숙지하시어,
고의로든 실수로든, 룰을 어기는 일이 없도록
주의하시기 바랍니다.
특히 '침실 골프룰'을 위반할 시에는,
페널티의 부과 정도가 아니라,
신체의 손상이나 인신 구속 등의 피해를 볼 수도 있으니
각별히 조심하셔야 합니다.
1. 모든 플레이어는 자기 자신의 장비를 갖추어야 하는데,
보통은 클럽 1개와 볼 2개이다.
[Each player shall furnish his own equipment for play, normally one club and two balls.]
2. 코스에서 플레이하려는 자는 반드시 홀 주인의 허락을 득 하여야 한다.
[Play on course must be approved by the owner of the hole.]
3. 실외골프와 달리, 침실골프의 목적은,
볼은 바깥에 둔 채 클럽을 홀에 집어넣는 것이다.
[Unlike outdoor golf, the object is to get the club in the hole and keep the balls out.]
4. 가장 효과적으로 플레이하기 위해서는,
클럽의 샤프트가 딱딱할수록 좋다.
코스의 주인은, 플레이가 시작되기 전에
샤프트의 경도를 점검할 권리를 갖는다.
[For most effective play, the club should have a firm shaft. Course owners are permitted to check shaft stiffness before play begins.]
5. 코스의 주인은 홀의 손상을 예방하기 위하여
클럽의 길이를 제한할 수 있다.
[Course owners reserve the right to restrict club length to avoid damage to the hole.]
6. 본 게임의 목적은 코스 주인이 만족할 때까지
되도록 많은 스트로크를 하는 것이므로, 그러지 못할 경우 다음부터는 플레이하지 못하기 십상이다.
[Object of the game is to take as many strokes as necessary until the owner is satisfied.
Failure to do so may result in being denied permission to play again.]
7. 도착 하자마자 바로 플레이를 시작하는 것은 좋지 않다.
노련한 플레이어들은 보통 플레이 하기 전에 코스 전체를 둘러보며 특히 잘 조성된 언덕과 벙커들을 칭찬하는 데에
시간을 아끼지 않는다.
[It is considered bad form to begin playing the hole immediately upon arrival.
Experienced players will normally take time to admire the entire course, paying special attention to well formed mounds and bunkers.]
8. 플레이어들이 주의할 사항은, 코스 주인에게 절대로 다른 코스와 비교하는 말을 해서는 안 된다는 것이다.
자칫 잘못하면, 코스 주인이 플레이어의 장비를 손상시킬 수도 있는 것으로 알려져 있다.
[Players are cautioned not to mention other courses they have played or are currently playing to the owner of the course being played.
Upset owners have been known to damage a player's equipment for this reason.]
9. 플레이어들은 만일의 사태에 대비하여,
우비를 준비하고 다니는 것이 좋다.
[Players are encouraged to have proper rain gear, just in case.]
10. 플레이어들은 아무 때나 코스에서 플레이할 수 있다고
생각해서는 안 된다. 코스가 일시 '수리중'이라서 당혹스러울 때도 있는데, 이럴 경우에 대처할 요령도 필요하다.
상급자들은 이런 경우 다른 방식의 플레이를 즐기기도 한다.
[Players should not assume that the course is in shape to play at all times.
Players may be embarrassed if they find the course temporarily under repair.
Players are advised to be extremely tactful in this situation.
More advanced players will find alternate means of play when this is the case.]
11. 특히 이제까지 플레이해본 적이 없는 코스에서
처음 플레이할 때에는, 시합 일정이 제대로 잡힌 것인지 반드시 확인하여야 한다.
혹시 그 코스에서 이전에 플레이한 적이 있는 사람이 나타나서, 왜 함부로 남의 프라이빗 코스에서 플레이 하냐고
화를 낼지도 모르니까.
[Players should assume their match has been properly scheduled particularly when playing a new course for the first time.
Previous players have been known to become irate if they discover someone else is playing what they considered a private course.]
12. 코스의 주인은 홀의 시야를 가릴 수도 있는 관목들을
잘 다듬어 두어야 할 책임이 있다.
[The owner of the course is responsible for the pruning of any bushes, which may reduce
the visibility of the hole.]
13. 코스의 뒷 편에서 플레이하기를 원하는 경우에는
사전에 반드시 주인의 허락을 받아야 한다.
[Players are strongly advised to get the owner's permission before attempting to play the backside.]
14. 슬로우 플레이가 권장되지만, 주인이 요청할 경우에는
좀 더 빨리 진행할 준비도 하고 있어야 한다.
[Slow play is encouraged, however, players should be prepared to proceed at a quicker pace at the owner's request.]
15. 한번의 매치에서, 시간이 되는대로,
같은 홀을 여러 번 플레이하면 높은 점수를 받는다.
[It is considered an outstanding performance, time permitting, to play the same hole several times in one match.]
