TO thouse who've  Fail'd

  To thouse who've fail'd, in aspiration vast,

  To unnam'd soldiers fallen in front on the lead,

  To calm, devoted engineers - to over - ardent

travelers to - pilots on their ships,

  To many a lofty song and picture without

recognition - I'd rear a laurel - cover'd monument,

  High, high above the rest - To all out off

before their time,

  Possess'd by some strange sprit of fire,

  Quench'd by an early an early death.




좌절한 사람들을 위하여


크나큰 바램이 좌절된 사람을 위하여

전선 앞 대열에서 쓰러진 무명용사를 위하여

차분하고 헌신적인 기사들 - 타오르듯 그리움타는

나그네들 - 배에오른 키잡이들을 위하여

인정받지 못한 숱한 노래와 그림을 위하여

내 월계수 잎덮인 기념비를 세우리

높이, 높이 그 어느 것 보다도 높이 - 때를 만나기 전에

쓰러진 모든 사람들,

낯선 불의 영혼에 들리워져

때이른 죽음에 사라져간 이들을 위하여
